Airborne Laser Swath Mapping and Airborne Digital Photography system
The UF/FIU system consists of an Optech Inc. model ALTM 1233 laser mapping system, and a Redlake (Duncan Tech) MS4100 RGB-CIR digital camera which is rigidly attached to the laser sensor unit. Performance specifications for the laser mapping unit include: 33 thousand laser pulses per second, recording of first and last returns, and the relative intensities of each return. The digital camera has 3 CCD arrays, each having 1080 by 1920 elements, each 7.4 by 7.4 micro-meters . One CCD array is shared for the blue and green bands, and the other two are devoted to red and near infrared bands, respectively. The current lens has a focal length of 28 mm, yielding a typical groundal of about 15 cm by 15 cm, at a flying height of 600 meters. UF/FIU system is mounted in a Cessna 337 in- line twin engine aircraft, equipped with a dual frequency geodetic quality GPS receiver and a real time display of the flight path and data coverage.
